I consider the Equifax data breach urgent enough for you to take preventative action.
1) The Federal Trade Commission website has helpful advice: The Equifax Data Breach: What To Do?
2) To find out whether your personal information may have been impacted go to Equifax: Equifax Cybersecurity Incident
3) Complimentary identity theft protection and credit file monitoring is offered by Equifax whether your personal information may have been compromised or not.
Additional thought: Last night on the PBS evening news there was a piece about cell phone numbers and how our cell phone numbers could be used to compromise our personal identity even more so than our Social Security numbers! One conclusion reached during that piece was to be careful who you give your cell phone number to.
My suggestions:
1) check your security settings, and that they are up-to-date, often and regularly on ALL your digital devices: desktop computers, laptops, cell phone, tablets, and any other digital devices you use; and
2) stay on top of what is going on in all your financial accounts by tracking your income and expenses with a good software program or secure digital program. We can make suggestions, if you need help in this area.
